The Spidells harmony & riffs are untouchable! I've listen to the Time, and other professionals groups nobody can hit the riffs! like the Spidells. Even the Time can't match that riff pattern; Other professional singing groups sing with a straight background line! On the other hand a riff carries the sound like a velvet wave. Listen again to the background vocals then compare the Time, Huey Newton & the news, they sing with a straight line in their background vocals!

I love this song and I love this version.

Ive heard the Impressions version. Personally I feel this version sounds better. The lead singer here has incredibly velvet vocals that as good as Mayfield was, just couldn't touch this. This is sublimely beautiful.

Never heard of this group. He can really sing. Their version came out when Aretha was a teenager. Wonder if she heard it then and recorded it herself in the 1970s . This is when I first heard this song. Beautiful
